I've seen Dr. Khuu for a fungus on my back. He did a great job, he's friendly and answered all my questions. His prescriptions are working well. I don't understand the bad reviews. It might be important to note that I'm an European, and I actually don't care if the doctor doesn't ask me how was my holidays, and doesn't remember me 100% when I go for a visit. When I go to a doctor I want him to be good at medicine, not at public relations.

I find the number of 5-star ratings and 1-star ratings to be very good information for consumers. Not everyone is looking for the same thing in a physician.
I decided on my first visit with Dr. Khuu over 5 years ago - long before he moved into the lovely office he has now - that he is the guy for me. He hasn't changed at all. He has always been incredibly decisive and confident about the way he applies the art of medicine. He examines, assesses, and then recommends a course of treatment in short order. I like this. He just knows what he is doing. But he is not opposed to a bit of friendly chatter and spends as much time with you as you need if you ask him for it.
I think the 1-star people may be looking for something else. For me, I want competence. I don't want to dilly-dally around too much, either. I am too busy to rate a receptionst, frankly. Who cares? Just get me in to see the guy I came for and process my payment properly and I'm happy. And Dr. Khuu has never been rude to me in the least. He is a personable, interesting guy and has accomplished more in his short life than you can imagine (they guy's a competitive skater, for God's sake, a world traveler, and has more credentials and publications than you can count).
If you are interested in competence, see Dr. Khuu. If you want to get your nails done or a massage or a cut'n'style, go somewhere else.

This place is truly amazing. I went here for laser hair removal and was taken care of by Jennifer. She was so polite and attentive as she assisted me through all six of my appointments. She clearly cared about the effectiveness of the laser. She would adjust the intensity according to my progress and my skins reaction each time. Oh, did I also mention their laser is virtually PAIN-FREE? She did an amazing job on my legs! I am now thinking of going back for other areas.

I've had only positive experiences with Dr. Khuu and his office so far. He is especially good with injectables, taking his time and trying to achieve a natural effect without overdoing it. He has not tried to upsell me with products, but the one that I am using regularly has made a visible difference in the bags under my eyes. I didn't feel pressured at all and have recommended two friends.
Dr. Khuu is very knowledgeable about his field and answered all of my questions. I'd happily recommend this practice in the future.

I went to Dr. Khuu last week with a very painful face infection. I was in severe pain and looking for answers as to what my condition was and what I could expect.
Dr. Khuu answered all of my questions and put me on a routine of prescription face gel and ointment along with oral medication. It has now been about a week and my face is cleared up and healed. I am a senior citizen and have been around a long time and I can tell you that Dr. Khuu is tops, knows his business, caring and professional. The kind of doc you want to go to when you have a problem and want a result.

I have been seeing Dr Khuu for nearly 2 years. He is a good dermatologist, with good experience.
I have read some of the reviews here, and I think most patients have a misconception of what makes a good doctor. Doctors see lots of patients everyday. Doctors are not magicians, and they can't remember every single patient.
I believe in being an active patient i.e. the patient should monitor your own progress, and always feedback to the doctor what has been done previously, what you have observed during treatment, what you think is troubling you this time. If you sit there like a starfish, don't expect miracles. You have to participate in your own health and well-being. In doing so, the doctor can then better assess the next course of action to resolve your issue based on his/her experience.
That being said, I have always had cystic acne issue, and I once had severe breakout of a weird kind of skin rash on the insides of my elbows. With patience, and a few sessions later, we were able to rule out different kind of infections, and narrowed down on the cause of my skin problems. Once the cause was nailed down, the rashes recovered very quickly.
I do not find any fault if the nurses or PA do not do small talk. I'm here for my skin treatment, and I want to be professionally treated as soon as I can, and get on to my other work. We do not go to the doctor's office to do small talk. Go to the Starbucks across the street if you wanna do that.

I hope this review is helpful for those with sun damage in their face. Even though I have been careful and consistent user of sun block, I had brown marks in my face. Last week Dr. Khuu and his beautiful assistant, did laser in my entire face (the "Alex") and I am shocked with the results. My skin is even, only 4 days of mild darker spots before they fell off my face. The procedure requires expertise as too much laser can result in scars (white or red is my understanding) and too little might not be enough to eliminate the marks. I'm thrilled with Dr. Khuu's results, my skin is perfect.
I have used Obagi before, gone through months of red, peel, etc and now I'm ecstatic for this alternative. I hope many others give it a shot and enjoy :).

I had scheduled a visit to have Dr. Khuu examine a mass on my wrist, and he spotted basal cell carcinoma on my nose. Because he detected it early, I didn't have to have too much of my nose removed. I now go to Dr. Khuu for regular screenings, and he proposes strategies for various issues--face, back, feet.
When I lived in San Francisco, it would take months to get an appointment with a dermatologist. You can use the telephone or ZocDoc to schedule an appointment with Dr. Khuu today. I recommend him even to those who live in The City.

I've been a patient of Dr. Khuu for nearly 4 years. He has been the only dermatologist to get my acne problems under control. Last year I moved to LA and was unable to find anyone in comparison. Anytime I'm visiting the Bay area I am sure to schedule an appointment with him. Highly recommended.

I had a mole that had grown on the side of my cheek due to sun exposure. Over the course of a few months, it had increased in size. My HMO doctor had refused to refer me to a Specialist, and just told me, "If I were you, I wouldn't do anything to it." Receiving care from them was hopeless. Due to having a hectic work schedule, I was not getting a chance to get it checked out with an outside Dermatologist.
I visited a free Stanford Skin Cancer screening, and they verified that it was non-cancerous. They directed me to visit the AAD (American Academy of Dermatology), where I located Dr. Khuu's profile. I called on a Saturday, and they had an opening the same day! I went in and was able to have it removed, as well as another raised sunspot that I had. I paid out of pocket, but it was worth it. Dr. Khuu was attentive, he was detail-oriented, and he even recommended a scar cream to reduce uneven skin tone from forming. I could not believe that my mole was gone in a matter of minutes!

My experience with Dr. Khuu was more than positive. His diagnosis was quick and his manner left me feeling like everything was going to be A-ok. The prescription process was also quick and I had some healing ointments in my hand in less than an hour of stepping in his office. Though he did speak more at me as opposed to with me. I forgot to ask some critical questions. No worries! I'm sure they'll show more.

I love Dr. Khuu! Very professional, caring and a talented cosmetic derm.
He has a keen aesthetic eye, which makes him an excellent injector. You may pay a little more for Botox than at your local spa. it is worth the extra money to have a skilled injector. It is all about the skill of the injector- not the price!!
Dr. Khuu knows just how much Botox and filler to use to achieve the best effect for his patients. He approach is conservative. His philosophy is less is more. You can always tweak the area, should you need a little more. He also has Xeomin the newest in the Botox family.
Dr. Khuu has a lovely contemporary office which he shares with his brother who is a Dentist. Fillers and teeth cleaning all in the same location!!
Dr. Khuu also has an excellent line of clinical skincare for your skincare needs.
